I had a Baby Burco Boiler (in those days washing machines didn't have a boil wash setting).
The 'soil' was rinsed off using a toilet flush, then the nappy was placed in a bucket of water and Napisan (steriliser). Five or six nappies a day plus a 'doubled up' two at night = 56 a week max.(two or three laundering sessions a week)
..more than that isn't normal, and maybe 70 a week is a symptom of an over enthusiastic mum, or the child has a problem that needs medical attention.
