I've only seen two performances of Joe's, but in the first against Port Vale he was absent and in the second against Chesterfield, he had a very poor game. I've no doubt that his mistakes and anonymity have been due to a lack in match practice rather than a lack of quality, but we aren't in a position to donate starting spots in order to help players through tough patches in their careers.

I'd like to see the squad trimmed throughout January, with loan players sent back to their parent clubs and squad players either utilised or released.

Craney - sent back, replaced by Putterill.
Jacobson - sent back, replaced by Bateson (with Winnard resuming his left-back position).
Turner - loaned out for match practice.
