Errr...I suspect that this is an oblique reference to the fact that crowds=revenue; revenue=financial resources; financial resources=buying players and paying them well.
No doubt that somewhere out there in cyberspace is an alternative league table which gives a standing based upon a ratio of points won/people through the gates and possibly one of points/average players salary. I'm sure that in both cases Stanley would top the league.
In either case, the motto can only be '
tu ne cede malis sed contra audentior ito'. That is another oblique reference; interpret it as you wish.
