Re: Blue bins and blue bags
The recycling wagon has separate compartments for each of the different materials. I've asked about blue bins instead as I must admit I'd prefer one myself but we do save quite a bit of money by separating the waste on the doorstep.
We'd have to issue a blue wheelie bin to each of the 30,000+ homes in Hyndburn at a cost of around £20 a time for starters, we'd need a new fleet of wagons plus we'd have to pay a third party to separate the recycling at the other end.
I know it is being looked into and it is a much more convenient system for the residents I admit but at the moment money is exceptionally tight, hence my constant rantings on here about council waste.
