We have categorically been asked by the beneficiary not to use it for political purposes, presumably meaning it cannot be used in The Accrington Observer, the Lancashire Telegraph or any election literature. As posted before, the local Parkinson's disease support group gratefully received a donation from HBC to help fund our accommodation expenses, for the past two years.
It was only in the second year that I suggested the cheque was presented publicly, and publicised. The first year the cheque just arrived in the post.
At no point was the idea raised by anyone other than myself.
The money was much appreciated, as was the publicity, which resulted in us reaching new people who have Parkinson's.
