After a lot more digging, I have found that the ONS has awarded the 150 million pound contract to the American arms company - Lockheed-Martin.
The information collected is
supposed to be confidential.......and if you look at the Census website, it tells us all very reassuringly that it is illegal for the information to be used outside the UK......but my digging has revealed that we are obliged to share the collected information with all 26 members of the EU and the US......now forgive me Kate if it sounds like I am moaning, but what on earth has it to do with the US?(or the EU for that matter...other than finding a way to screw more money out of us for some damn thing or other)
I cannot see this information remaining confidential for very long with so many countries having access to it.
