When we used to ask what was for dinner, Ma used to tell us it's duck and roll....duck under't table and roll or tha'll bang thi ead.....another one was....to the same question...a run and jump up the buttery (pantry) door....which meant we were getting nowt.
When our hair was a mess, my gran would say she had seen better hair on bacon(I never understood this...I never saw hair on bacon).
and to those of us who always wanted our own way,that was ME......she would say 'She wants all er own rooad and a bag to purrit in.
