Re: What was it called?
Back in the old days the houses were cold and draughty........bedrooms were akin to fridges. I know that we made ice lollies on the window ledge inside our back bedroom........and although it was as cold as charity, we ate them. Well it's a poor belly that can't warm an ice lolly.
We wore more skins than an onion.......I wore a vest, then a libery bodice and then an underslip then my school shirt, skirt and finally a school jumper or cardigan, which back then was wool..
We wore nearly as many clothes to go to bed in.......Ma used to warm the bed with a couple of bricks which were kept in the bottom of the kitchen range.
And they were the good old days!
