Re: Fire in accrington area?

This area woodnook was due to be involved in the 'Renovate' regeneration project, a 3 stage, £3 million project that would be knocking down houses on Booth Street, Royds Street, August Street and Wilfred Street and replacing them with an open green space. The rest of the area was due to get new 'faces' to every house with sandblasting and the like and all the roofs on the remaining houses repaired to encourage people to come back to the area. Also it included the old Woodnook dying company land where there was supposed to be a nature reserve and a new housing estate.

All info on this project has gone quiet since the General Election, leaving most of the residents to presume that this has been canned. Leaving four streets of houses clad in metal door and window protectors and open to squatters and other misuses.

I've lived in the area for 16 years and it used to be a reasonable area, now its awful.
