In the world, UK is second after the USA in cash terms. In percent of gross national income (GNI) the UK is seventh. We are top of the league in aid as %GNI for the G8 countries.

It's bizarre when you think about it....at least the people in the poor nations have got nothing. UK citizens have the largest per capita debt on the planet, so are poorer.

Still, we still seem to be able to borrow money to give away and load further debt onto our children to pay back on our behalf. How they are going to do this when the jobs have been exported to many of the aid-recipient nations, plus they will have £50-60k of debt from university, is anyone's guess.
