Interesting article in the Wall Street Journal.

As well as stating that Cameron will increase Britain's foreign aid to £12 billion pounds by 2014, it goes on to show how little effect it has on actually reaching the poor.

It reports that the west gave sub-Saharan Africa some $660 billion in aid between 1960 and 2009, yet GDP per person was only marginally better in 2000 than it was in 1965: $511 compared to $488, when adjusted for inflation.

Can't really see how this endless giving is different from what we are told is the reliance on benefits culture we have at home, which the government seem determined to stop.
