This is so you disconnect all extension and equipment from the line and plug your filter and modem straight into the line.
Often the problem is mistakes with filters and extensions.
I prefer the ADSL master socket front, it replaces the original one and has a phone and modem socket on it and you dont need the horrible little filters.
Its the way BT first installed ADSL and they are now using them again as it can improve speed by removing the issues with internal wiring.
Its the way I had my ADSL before I switched to the much better Virgin service.
