What the club has done over the years from the early 70s is nothing short of fantastic; but in 2011 the world is a very different place and players at this level have very different priorities and commitments than us supporters. Nobody should have be left without a contract this season and no player should be criticised for looking out for themselves.

The club didn't reward their efforts by offering them a competitive contract to keep them, so why would they want to commit themselves.

Didn't realise you were in the know about what contracts have been offered to who Doug? Apart from a few lines in the paper from Luke Joyce who said he'd been offered a 2 year contract I don't think many people knows who has been offered what, one thing I'm sure of is that the club will have offered the best they can afford to the players. Of course the offers may be less than the lads can get from other clubs & if they choose to turn them down & move on so be it. We cannot offer ridiculous money as some other clubs do or we could end up back in a similar mess to the one we are just starting to get out of.
Of course I would love all the team to stay together and see what they could achieve this coming season but if they don't then I'm sure Coley will find replacements for the ones who do leave (although I would be disappointed if Scunthorpe is Jimmy's destination as I think he could do much better for himself)
