The three RRR's-do they still matter?
Apparently they do! 400,000 new jobs created last year, 340,000 of them were taken by immigrants. Yet another top industrialist(David Frost, DG of the Chamber of Commerce) says 'they(the employers) expect young people to come forward to them who are able to read, write, communicate and have a strong work ethic and too often that's not the case'.
If, as our education professionals tell us, standards are rising, exam results soaring and more young ones are qualified to go to university, how come universities and employers are having to run remedial classes in the three R's? How come a young Pole with English as his second language is able to be more employable than a young Brit?
895,000 young people unemployed- 19% ! That's wicked and someone has let them down.
Don't just blame low wages, they're not good but good enough to attract other Europeans to come here. But then they don't get the unemployment benefits at home that we provide-Frost said this was a disinsentive to work. And you can't blame lack of jobs-340,000 would have brought youth unemployment a lot.
Everywhere you go now you are dealing with young, bright, cheerful, friendly East Europeans. Where are our bright, cheerful, friendly young Brits? Why are they less employable? They shouldn't be and they don't deserve to be.
