Immediately told the landlady/manageress, but without much hope. This used to happen to me regularly in the Pickwick back in the day  and the attitude from the bar staff was usually a shrug of the shoulders and a “what do you expect me to do about it?” approach.
However, I was pleasantly surprised when this redoubtable lady marched outside to the drinkers sitting at the tables, collared the miscreant, berated him loudly and extracted payment from him, before returning to the bar, pulling me a fresh pint and apologising profusely.
Now that’s what I call service!
