Blackburn Orphanage

The Blackburn Orphanage was started in 1886 by a James Dixon. It's successor is today called Child action North West and is a children's charity run from the orphanage building at Wilpshire.

On Sunday 11Th September, 11am-3PM, the charity is celebrating Heritage Day by opening its doors and revealing its archive of material dating from the first orphan, Adolphus Curran being admitted.

The charity has been granted £39k of funding to place its archive in the public domain in Lancashire Archives.

Go along, take your children and grandchildren - but take them home too.
