Block printing was the first method of printing at Broad Oak & Steiners until roller printing came in, those block could be nigh on 150 years old, Haworth Art Gallery has about 5 0r 6.
Some people still use that method of printing today, for specialist work.
I've just done a search, and there are many sites, not just for the wooden block printing but lino printing as well, several firms selling printing inks and tools.
