This chap has cropped up in my family tree, he married my great-great aunt in 1919.
He was Hermon Ashworth and was in the "W.F." during WW1. Tried looking up WF but got nowhere. Can you tell me what it stands for and have you any info on Hermon?

Hermon Ashworth. Pte. 55986. R.W.F. lived at,
31 Wilfred St Accrington.

There were all sorts of abreviations during the war.
W.F. Western Front.
E.F. Eastern Front.
B.E.F. British Expeditionary Force.
M.E.F. Mediteranian Expeditionary Force.
C.E.F. Canadian Expeditionary Force.
A.E.F. Australian Expeditionary Force
N.Z.E.F. New Zealand Expeditionary Force.


In your case the W.F. is Welsh Fusiliers.
