In Italy this happens every time you have to renew your driving license -you have to have a medical visit which tests your hearing and sight (with and without glasses/with or without hearing aids -i wouldn't be allowed to drive without my glasses and it's written on the license) you have to declare any medical conditions you have and also what medication you are on. The time between renewals falls the older you get from every 10 yrs to every 5 yrs over 60 and every 3 yrs over 70.
There is now also a new law which means that any person who applies for their first license has to have a blood test to show they are not recreational drug users.
