I have to drive on the roads over here in the middle of all the Italians so i know what it's like, even though i can no longer do long distance driving, and I agree.
A little aside, I failed my test twice in the UK (the only exam i've ever failed!) so i have an Italian driving license which was easier to get 20-odd years back. The current test here is damnably hard and I doubt i'd pass it. My eldest son reckons i shouldn't be on the road but I've never had an accident in 23 yrs (touchwood) and he's wrecked 3 cars in 5 years...
