I've done it myself...once.
When I was in a last minute rush, and didn't have time to get currency from my normal supplier.
It was only later that I realised how pish poor a rate I'd gotten at Gatwick airport.
Thankfully I was going to an African country, who put a very low limit on how much of their currency you could take in.
