In answer to your question, since I'm always friendly to new members, and others haven't been, particularly.
First of all welcome, secondly there are forum meets.
Not as regular as they used to be, but they still happen from time to time.
Keep your eye on the Nightlife, Events, Days Out section.
Sometimes people also post informally they're meeting up somewhere.
