2011 Prediction League - Just for Fun; JPT Round 3 - v Tranmere Rovers (home)

Heady times, Ladies and Gentlemen: "Team of the Round" last time out - everybody gets a free tin of paint, or something ............ This time; Tranmere come to Fortress Crown - a change from us going there, it must be said.

Third time we've met in the Paintpot; last year we won 5-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw, and then fell on us collective swords, 'cos our goal was scored by one Ray Putterill, who wasn't supposed to be playing at the time ; Sept 08 we lost 1-0 in the 1st Round at their place. We also lost to them in the 1st Round of the FA Cup 1-0 (after a 0-0 at our place) in that same season ............

Currently they lie 12th in League 1, with 15 points from 11 games played; their away form overall is P6 W2 L4 (which includes the 3-0 loss at Donnie in the Carling); wins at Brentford and Leyton Orient, defeats at PNE , Huddersfield and Notts Co as well as at the Keepmoat. At home, W3 D3 L1, including a 4-2 win on penalties over Port Vale after a 1-1 draw in the last round of the Tinpot (I won't call it that if we get to Wembley, honest ...)

In 13 games in all, they've only managed 12 goals; their leading scorers are Joss Labadie (MF), Ash Taylor (defender) and Robbie Weir (MF), each with two ......... who else do we know has no-one who's scored more than 2, and most of their goals from midfield or defence? (Clue; Murphy, Hessey, Proctor and Fletcher ........)

Two new loan signings to watch for; Everton forward Jose Baxter (19) and 20 year-old Newcastle midfielder/forward Ryan Donaldson, an England u17 and u19 international, have both just come in .......... We'll see.

Deadline is, as always, scheduled kick-off time, which is 7.45pm this Tuesday, 4th October; I understand that Wynonie has a new delivery of llama intestines coming (from Waitrose, or somewhere ), and DaveinGermany has a case of Pot Noodle on the way ; let's see if sticking a pin in a piece of paper can still beat these heathen practices!

Well, I think Pot Noodle's pretty heathen ........

Good luck to everyone - and thanks for playing!
