Ambulance Service

It apparently took half an hour for the ambulance to arrive at the Crown Ground when that player was so badly injured the other night.

Criticism of ambulance response time to injured Accrington Stanley player (From Lancashire Telegraph)

Didn't it used to be a requirement for an ambulance to be on standby at such events? I know that when a jockey is injured in a horse race the next race can't start until the ambulance has returned.

If the reason for the delay was because of cuts in spending on the ambulance service, then this is a stark example of spending cuts having potential life or death implications.
