There are a number of these products on the market......Ibugel, Volatrol, etc........but any back condition that has not responded to basic treatment of pain relief and heat treatment should make you think that you need a proper medical assessment.

These over the counter products are usually much milder than the ones that the GP can prescribe and are often no more effective than the much cheaper paracetamol......though they can be used in tandem with paracetamol.....the way they work is different.

The other thing with these medications is that they may interact with other medications that you might be taking........hence the advice to speak to the pharmacist.
They should be used with caution in anyone who has asthma.(if the Asthma is bad then a doctor may not prescribe one of these medications).
