The things that used to be really cheap....bacon ribs, ham shanks, belly pork, pork ribs.....have somehow become trendy......and have rocketed in price.

This trend for lamb shanks (and the price) leaves me cold... give me a nice roast any day, sorry I know lamb's not your thing but it's my favourite roast. Love belly pork as well.
Round here the farmers' markets do something called a lamb henry, don't know where that came from. It's a normal half shoulder of lamb cut in half. In my opinion too small for a decent roast and a waste of good meat if you casserole it. At my Richard's works canteen and some pubs they serve a whole one for one portion which I think is obscene.
