Aldershot Town vs Accrington Stanley
Saturday 21st January
EBB Stadium
15:00
Team News -Shots The Shots have been hit by injury problems, with forward Michael Rankine (leg) and winger Alex Rodman (viral infection) set to miss the rest of the season. Some good news for Dean Holdsworth is that that centre-back Chris Doig, should be fit to play after recovering from a hamstring problem. The Aldershot manager could also hand full debuts to Charlie Collins and Josh Payne. One player who will not be available for the Shots is Jermaine McGlashan, after he moved to fellow League Two side Cheltenham Town on Friday.
Team News –Accrington Stanley Accrington with out captain Andy procter who made the switch to Npower league 1 side Preston North End yesterday could hand debuts to both Michael Smith and Liam Willis for the clash at the EBB. Smith, who is on loan from League One Charlton and former Wigan defender Willis joined Stanley earlier this week.
Form
Shots -It has been a frustrating period for the Shots, without a win in their last five. Last week they went down to promotion chasing Cheltenham Town 2-0. Goals either side of half time from Luke Summerfield and Kaid Mohamed were enough to condemn Dean Holdsworth’s men to their 14th league defeat of the season. Aldershot Town are in 16th place in League Two.
Accrington – Stanley have been in good form of late. Even though in their last outing they went down 3-0 at home to the hands of Barnet, that was their first league defeat in ten games. John Coleman’s men are just two points of the play-offs and if results go their way they could be as high as sixth come 5pm of Saturday.
Last Meeting -Accrington Stanley 3-2 Aldershot Town – 1st October 2011
It was quite a game when the team last met back in October. The Shots took the lead through Danny Hylton before Sean Hessey struck back for the hosts just four minutes later. Dean Holdsworth’s men again took the lead, and again through Hylton, this time after the striker headed home from an Alex Rodman corner. The visitors couldn’t hold onto their lead and Accrington and drew level through Danny Coid. With just two minutes of normal time remaining Charie Barnett grabbed the winner for the hosts.
