Re: Commercial Pub Accrington Friday food review
I go out for lunch most Sundays to pubs/ restaurants throughout the immediate area, the Ribble Valley and further afield on occasion. This week we had no transport so went to Wetherspoon inAccrington for lunch with my partner - it was actually a very pleasant experience. I had steak, chips and salad and my partner had gammon, pineapple, eggs and chips, both with a free drink for under 7 pounds each, very nicely cooked, I've been to much posher places and paid much more for a less enjoyable meal. In fact I'm getting a bit fed up of uppy arsey places charging a fortune for food which costs next to nothing to produce which my grandparents used to make because they couldn't afford anything else at the time (and very nice the food was, I still cook the food that my grandma used to make). But the eating establishments seem to be making a speciality of charging a fortune to make stuff our ancestors made and charge extortionate prices on the premise that they are chefs and their products are locally sourced!
It smacks to me of the Emperor's New Clothes, where nobody dare say that they've been charged a fortune for something that's cost next to nothing to make!
I'd appreciate comments.
