Re: Nice and early Port Vale match thread.......
Very interesting to read all these comments when all I wanted to do was make a point, not stir up a wasps nest and cause aggro!
For the record since April 2010 I have attended every home game I have been able to, plus some away games. When I go to home games I sit as far away from the drums as possible, simply to avoid a headache. I would go to more away games but I have to stand near the din - so I don't bother. My wife came with me to Morecambe and not only did we have the din to put up with but some stupid twits decided that we all needed large flags etc placed around us. Given the high winds that day we thought that this was downright stupid.
As far as I am concerned if you need the help of drums to create an atmosphere there is something wrong with the football. I am not the only person who finds the loud drumming annoying, plenty of others have made the same comment to me.
Now whether folk think I am a whinger, or not, I really do not care, because I have been around far too long and I am too thick skinned to worry. I have simply made my point and I just hope that your faith in Mr Cook is not in vain.
Finally, I have lived all over the country and since 1958 and seen a lot of football in that time. Although I am not from Lancashire, my wife is, having been born and bred in the Ribble Valley. She and all her family and friends are the most friendly and welcoming people I have ever met. Sorry if I have upset some of her fellow Lancastrians.
The "malcolm the mole" username refers to the fact that I am a genealogist (for the benefit of Cashman who might not know, it means a Family Historian), and it is an username I use elsewhere and was the only thing that this forum would accept. I suppose that reflects the popularity of this forum at least.
