Port Vale have been served with a winding-up petition by HM Revenue & Customs over an unpaid tax bill.
It's another blow for the troubled League Two club, who have failed to pay their players' wages this month, are under a transfer embargo, and are behind on their loan repayments to the council.
Vale boss Micky Adams said: "I'm massively disappointed with what's going on. I think it's going to get worse before it's going to get better.
"If the rumours are true then tomorrow morning, instead of pushing for the play-offs, we need to win games to stay in the League."
