I never mentioned Accrington or any other part of Lancashire - the accent of those is music to the ears compared that of a Scouser. A lot of folk are prejudiced about accents - there was a recent thread on here - it's usually Brummy/Black Country that gets people's backs up whereas I love them.
Liverpool was good to you in your undergraduate years and I can understand your fondness for it - but don't expect everyone to feel the same.
