We have more permenant pitches (90) in Hyndburn than there are in the whole of Cumbria BUT the majority of the time they cause us little problem. It's the Illegal Encampments that cause the probloems and cost us lots to remove them and clean up after them. It absolutely INFURIATES me and I'm proud to say that we have the time for removal of these sites on HBC land down to an absolute minimum (less than a week in the majority of cases). Its harder when thye land is owned by LCC as it's their legal department who deal with the eviction, but irritatingly, HBC have to pay the clean up cost. No easy answers but I would like HBC to have the same legal powers as private landowners to remove these encampments and I'm lobbying the government HARD to get some help for boroughs like us
