This morning they are saying that there were 16 victims in yesterday's earthquake, 350 injured and very extensive damage over a vast area. They estimate that about 14,000 people have had to leave their homes because of damage.

A family arrived on our farm yesterday evening from a village near Modena -they had damage to their home (cracks in the wall, fallen plaster and damage to the roof) so they'll be here until it's declared safe. They were afraid to go home in any case and will be staying with one of my neighbours for a few days at least.
We were talking about what had been written on this thread about the price of Parmigiano Reggiano (if they sell it as Parmesan -it's not the real thing!). The opinion here is that the price will actually go up -though no doubt a black market of the damaged cheeses will soon be set up!

Hope that your ex-husbands family has not been affected Margaret.
