Rogue Trader in Ossy.

I'm livid.

Last March my mother bought a small freezer, from a shop in Ossy. She'd seen one there already, but when she went in it had gone, so they told her they'd order one for here.

The freezer arrived...and never worked properly from day one. The motor ran all the time, and the whole thing became a block of ice. My mum telephoned them repeatedly, and eventually they took it back in April, supposedly to be repaired.

This has been going on all last year, and they've had it back four times, and it has never worked. The top drawer freezes solid, and the bottom drawer of the three, doesn't freeze anything.

On Monday of this week my brother and my mum returned the freezer to the shop. He told them he's send it back to his supplier, and then she could have her money back. I've worked in retail, and that's rubbish. Mum phoned him, explained the legality of refunds for faulty goods, and said she'd come in today, for her money back.

My brother took her in, and he's now refusing to return any money at all, as he said it only had a three month guarantee. Again this is bunkum, as new goods are covered in law by a twelve month contract. He basically threatend my brother, and they had to leave the shop empty handed. The shop has CCTV, otherwise my brother wouldn't have left the shop empty handed!!!

The shop is called Multi Tech, and is at 187 Union Road, on the corner of Chapel Street, facing Emric Eccles the chemists.

This man has made a big mistake. My family has been in business in Ossy for over sixty years, and you can't treat people like this and expect to stay in business. His name will be mud, and as many people as possible will get to know about his shoddy attitude.

My Mum, isn't a weak woman, though she is a pensioner and a widow, but I don't want this firm to rip anybody else off, particularly those people who may be weak, such as the elderly, who don't have the strength to fight back.

Happily we do have the strength, and will be fighting back. The money isn't a fortune, but it is the principle.

It certainly is the principle and good on you for sticking to your guns. The shop should very well know that your contract is with them and they should jolly well make sure you have a working freezer. (Well your Mum should.) A clock shop once tried to fob us off when we bought a clock from them which didn't work but we stood our ground and insisted on it being replaced with a clock that did work. It wasn't a tuppeny ha'penny clock but a large wooden westmister chimes thing with pendulums and what not.

Well done garinda, I have fought against people like this all my life, and just occasionally it is appreciated, unfortunately, there is far more of this attitude than most people realise, I love it when they are exposed for thier greedy, exploitation and there 'goodwill' which is rife with clauses, believe it or not, some of the big companies are the worst, anybody who knows what I do will know who I mean, and they have been getting away with it for years, but more so since they became a plc. I hope you have a good outcome to this garinda, and that it doesn't upset your mum too much.

That's the one, next to Johnathon's/Arena's hairdressers.

They sell all kinds of electrical stuff...including dodgy freezers.
