the should give lollipop ladies the power to hand out fines for parents parking on zigzags etc and give them a commisuon on every ticket issued ,infact i think parking wardens shoud be able to issue the 3 points that go with parking on zigzags but currently they can only give a fine pitty eh :( |

The area around St Mary's church on a sunday morning was a problem but we approached the priest after a fire appliance was hampered responding to a house fire on Hawthorne Avenue and the problem got better, but I'll not go into that or I will be accused of being prejudice against catholics. I am sincere when I say this is not a race issue, just a concern that these events are so well attended that the parking becomes a real issue, and the roads around James St are narrow and tight at the best of times. If people park to near a junction for instance a fire appliance has no chance of turning into that street. James st club in its hay day was licenced for 600 but never got that full, and if there was a function on 90% of people walked or got taxis the rest parked on the car park, traffic issues were never a problem. they have been holding them there without permission then, because a few times we have seen what you explain about the cars and music, the cars are really something else they turn up in, top of the range money cars, so they have started already. this started last year. |

What a load of twaddle this all thread is!
All Asian weddings are not the same, all Asians dont use the same mode of transport to get to their weddings. Infact they are very like no Asian weddings, some will want to have limos but not all. If it is just for weddings the club is going to be u sed mainly in the summer months and will be quiet at other times of the year. surely it is better that the building is used than not used? Would people rather see it fall apart from neglect? How long has iot been empty now? Thinking about it I can't see it being that big a hit with weddings as there are no grounds outside for pictures |

Would think that parking will be one of the highest priorities for passing/not passing these plans Jaysay .. they do intend to amend the structure of the car park, but without a visit to Scaitcliffe House, can't tell to what extent (another plug to get them to put these up on their web site  ) Really don't think will come up as an issue though .. look at the parking around the Civic Theatre when there is an event. Wonder if any of the residents have objected on these grounds ? Would be the only objection I would imagine. |

Re: James St Club
There is a simple solution to all this nonsense about illegal parking in big Mercs. It's called a screwdriver, which just happens to stick out of your bag as you have to squeeze past said vehicles.

Re: James St Club
Hi, I live just round the corner from the club and can see what problems would be caused, i think something needs to be added if the planning is going to be approved, 1st there will be a problem parking and they should monitor this when functions are on also when the club is not being used it should be open to local residents for community meetings etc and posibly a centre where the teenages could go at night...just a thought, Frank

I suggest that a document signed by nearby residents be sent to the planning committee - pointing out that the new users of the club are not expected to be alcohol consumers and are therefore far more likely to arrive in cars and park |

See there is an Planning Application for change of use to Restaurant and Function Hall from Snooker Hall on Richmond Road, Accrington... Mr. Nazakat Ali. Wonder if for the same type of purpose as per St. James's Club ?
