Its about time the Council installed the checkpoint I have asked for.
Its to keep you Accy (and Church) lot out of Oswaldtwistle :D

Have they removed the bridge yet at the end of High Street?

Think the bridge is still there Neil, but I believe they are working on the machine gun turrets:D

I recall a time when Catlow Hall St and Mayfield Ave were not 'joined up' and when the bridge on High St was pedestrians only.

Where the steep bit is now, there wasn't any road.
Not many people had cars then so it didn't matter much.

Do you mean Mayfield Ave and Fairfield St , Margaret ?

I can remember High St being more of a dirt track which the odd driver used .

Where the plant nursery shop is - yes, it is Mayfield Ave when it reaches the Ossy boundary.
I recall that Accy council and Ossy council couldn't agree on sharing the cost of joining up the two roads.

OK I mixed up Mayfield and Fairfield - a field's a field whatever:rolleyes:

It was only given a posh avenue name because the posh houses on that stretch didn't want to be part of a street -Catlow Hall St - there aren't trees on grass verges so it shouldn't be an avenue.
