Don't hold your breath - if they are starting in march why spend all that money landscaping and plant those trees. Unless they are not using that bit of land which does not leave much space for 2 roundabouts.

Anyone seen any plans of these that roundabouts could explain a bit more

Yes, got summat through the door. They are replacing both sets of lights with a roundabout at each junction. There will be puffin crossings across each road about 30 metres back. The small bit of dual carriage will remain between the roundabouts.
Will try and dig up the plans at LCC website.

I would have thought big roundabouts would be needed to help the traffic flow. I can see lots of bumps happening if they do build them.

Church Con Club, a red-brick building as I remember (I used to go to dances there in the 50s), was reasonably close to the traffic lights. Has that gone? I believe my mother's old home, Church Railway Station House, no longer exists and the station is now just platforms.

Yes it has certainly changed a lot over the years, once of a day you could get all the shopping you needed without going into town. You certainly can't now:(

Looks like the LCC site is having a funny do! Will try again tomorrow.

They weren't mini's Neil, from what I remember they are about 5 metres in diameter.

Feel they need to alter the light sequence that's all.

Not enough land for a roundabout ... which would not be as safe anyway.

No I have not logged all those that go through the lights on red, just seen with my own eyes whilst waiting at the junctions for the lights to change so that I can go. It would seem to me that the worst culprits are the ones coming out of Henry street, they want to beat the lights.

You are probably also aware that Lancashire will not be doing anything about the area and several others in Hyndburn unless they do the Rapid Transport plan they think is such a good idea.

It was suggested at a recent Area Council meting that Lancashire are trying to black mail the residents of Hyndburn to accept this bus route even though it brings with it many unwanted things like reduced parking outside shops in Union road and outside residents houses in Ossy and Clayton as well as other areas.

There would be enough room along blackburn road to add a bus lane if they moved all the parked cars :D

As for solving the problem of cars going through on red I would expect a Policeman or two could solve that.
I don't know about that, they seem to go about with their eyes closed. Cars parked on the footpath, and yellow lines adjacent to traffic lights

No, there would be enough room for the cars to flow properly.

They want to remove parking for 4 hours in the morning and 4 hours in the afternoon along Union Road so the buses will move faster.

I can only see 2 parking spaces that actually cause a problem along Union Road for the buses.

What really happens is that the bus stops so all the cars behind them have to stop. The bus sets off so do the cars.

How removing the parking will make buses move faster is very questionable. Do these road planners actually look at what is going on???

Cars don't just park on the pavement down Blackburn road they drive down it too:eek:
The other day i was walking to the bus stop and a car turned out of a side street (China st) onto the pavement and came past the bus stop she was going to the laundrette which is just passed the bus stop i carried on walking and made her stop but she rolled down her window and started shouting at ME to get out the way.
unfortunately the bus was coming so i could not stop and argue but will next time

Is that not a traffic calming measure, at no extra cost :D

If the "parking bays" are removed will it not make the roads as wide as they used to be before they introduced the "parking bays" thus creating extra room on the roads allowing the buses to go faster. They need to create more off road parking areas.

Which is not easy on Union Road. There is a small car park next to the Rose and Crown, its the 2 spaces in front of that I think should go. The cars parked there do cause an obstruction.
