Been searching through the British Army Service Records, for 11th Battalion East Lancs, Just put Accrington in the search and up came this.
He is a Russian and changed his name to De Rose. His papers show he lived in Cassara Cottage Accrington. Never heard of it. Retlaw. |

This must be the father of the world-famous artist Gerard de Rose who has had a lot of mentions on this forum. I seem to think that he lived with his parents somewhere around Oxford St/Ellison St. I suspect they will be on the 1911 census.

This is how Carrara Cottage looked until about 12 months ago. Its on the corner of Oxford Street, almost facing where Daltons printers are.
