Oh! lol MY other topic. I thought you were giving us another clue!! I haven't posted it yet. I've been too busy thinking about oak trees.

This is a wild guess type thing.

The part of the building which you photographed was once occupied perhaps by a company/firm/industry which used the name "broad oak".

I know RGS electro-pneumatics used to be up there and also Lionel Robinsons, later the green bit was Apples MOT centre.

Quercus Robur = the latin name for the Pedunculate or English Oak.

"...spreading chestnut tree." 'spreading' implies that the tree is broad, it's not a chestnut but an Oak, hence.....BROAD OAK.

The building in Question is thus Broad Oak Mill.

Broad Oak Mill (New Factory/Wellington Mill) SD 759 283

Probably the most impressive textile mill of accrington built 1834-37 By Hargreaves Dugdale & Co. of Broad Oak Printworks. John Rhodes was the main building contractor and the stone was brought by tramroad from Higher Antley Quarry ( adjacent to Higher Antley Hall, Bullough Park). By 1850 Hargreaves' were employing 755 people at the mill. In 1879 plant included 776 looms and 50,000 mule spindles powered by a beam engine and an 1867 Clayton and Goodfellow Horizontal Engine.

What the picture shows is the probable boiler house for the mill.

Willow gets the coconuts for 'what' and for 'where'.

Just to be pedantic, isn't the English oak Quercus Quercus? - and Quercus Rubra is the red oak.

The quercus rubra is indeed the red oak but A-b was talking about the quercus robur which is the English oak.
