They changed the arrangements - we are going next weekend now. I know that sounds like a load of BULL.. which is why I popped in yesterday and took a few snaps - because I am nice and dont want to disappoint you. They will be uploaded here by 3pm today. Cheers. Oh and take care on the pavements - they are very slippery!

At last! So you finally went in- but what foolish risks you took. You can see the dry rot everywhere, the whole place is rotten. I wouldn't walk on any of that wood.
Can't you see the futility of your dream? It's beyond help.
I can't think why so many people must have gone to so much trouble to trash the place.
So many memories- if you'd only seen it in the 50's and early 60's.

That brought back some memories its such a shame the building has been allowed to get in that state, however like others have said its beyond repair and needs pulling down.

Has anybody got any pictures they can upload of the building when it was open and nice?

Re: Update on Accrington Conservative Club

It is FAR WORSE than I expected it would be inside. Is that a glass ceiling you are walking under? Collapsed staircases leading to basements, holes in floors.....
You are nothing short of Stupid and crazy.

I googled a little to see if you might have been faking the pics being yours.

You posted on this site(below). "I have pics of rest of the building...Pics up to date as of October 1 2012)" So you say you just popped in to take the photos. that would mean you lied here or you have been in and around the inside of that building several times? I want to recalculate the above "You are nothing short of Stupid and crazy" but to do so I would have to insert several appallingly vulgar expletives and at this point I don't want to offend. So for now I will just use some nice Bold coding...

Urban Exploration (Urbex) of Accrington Conservative Club

Interesting quote from that site...

"The detailing of this building is fabulous, even more so when you consider it's insignificant location." < Me thinks they got that the wrong way around.

Well at the end of this egregiously long post I will end by saying I hope you do not enter inside there again. Hope that time travel is invented, or something.

Yeah I did just pop in. I have been several times and have never denied this. The pictures I took in october were on a rubbish camera phone. The pictures I took this year were taken on a professional camera.

Anyway, I found 2 really supportive charities dedicated to saving listed buildings,
Save Britains Heritage
The Victorian Society

They were very helpful on the phone and asked me to send in some pictures of the building and they will get in touch with the local council and then get back in touch with me! :D

Now that a much more useful thing to be doing. Though I doubt even those organisations will get very far with the council or the owner now it's got to this stage. Sadly they may have been through all of this before years ago before it got too bad but some individual or other was concerned enough to inform them.

Of course it's also possible that they might decide the building is not worth saving...

Never mind how old he is, I'd like to know his definition of 'professional'.
He now claims to have that type of camera, somehow I think he means more expensive but calls it professional, hoping to sound a little more expert than he is.

A brownie in the right hands could take some wonderful pictures, sad to say not my hands.
However claiming a camera is professional does not improve the quality of pictures taken, only the potential that quality photographs could be taken.

It was a disaster area 21 years ago when it was sold by the con and it was turned into Churchills, I've said it before to treat the dry rot even in those days was going to cost hundreds of thousands of pounds, something that wasn't done, therefore its a lost cause now, and has for this young man keep risking his life every time he enters that building, he's nuts, there is know way you'd get me anywhere near that building and I know what I'm doing

The visit for a fiver is a joke. Most people would know that. The 1981 is a mistake. And the logos have a link that lead to their website. They are not copyrighted. And it is free advertising for them!

I don't think the "joke" sits very well with the aims of the website. Didn't come across as such to me.

Re the logos - from personal experience I know some organisations get upset if things like logos are used on sites which may imply official involvement with that organisation. I know you have been in contact with the two heritage organisations and they have shown interest but that's all. As for HBC - who knows. Just be aware that they may, just may, get stroppy if they see them being used on your site.

Well I didn't take it as a joke, on what was supposed to be a website dedicated to restoring the club to its former glory.

No you wouldn't know what it means, just as you don't understand, good manners, good English or good sense.

I'm amazed you didn't get a ban for what you said last night.

Don't get him drunk if he does come in the Railway - he's supposed to be meeting up with his rearranged photography lot today according to an earlier post and we don't want any nasty accidents do we... on the other hand...

Jaysay those posts last night had me thinking along similar lines to you - and maybe he hasn't been banned because it's quite interesting to see how this develops.

If someone is mad enough to put up a website and then make it private, it's a bit of a nonsense if you're then asking on that website for help to save the building, if your number of views is going to to be so restricted. I reckon that site is just to wind us up and he posted that nasty post on it himself just to get the ball rolling. Or perhaps he's got me thinking in as warped a way as him? Oh dear it's working...

You wouldn't want to know Dave, nasty, vindinctive, and came out of nowhere it seems but possibly aimed at an individual possibly not. He really lost the plot, say no more.

It's alright Sue, I've been enlightened. The hallmarks of a previous poster/s appear to be all over this & are more inclined towards provocation, petulance than sincerity of purpose, I'd strongly suggest ignoring this thread & allow it the demise & ignominy it rightly deserves.

Well if Less' sentence from earlier in the thread confused the poor lad. He has no hopes with yours :D

I don't think this can be ignored. This kid is going to seriously hurt himself if he keeps on going into that building

It sort of proves the conspiration theorists wrong, if they were correct someone would be on the roof to push him off!

Those photos are not a wind up, unless he has stolen them from somewhere and that email address; I searched it on facebook and it is a kid called Sam.

If you really are concerned for this idiot, go down the police station and spend hours convincing them to spend manpower watching Churchills so they can clip his ear and send him home.
I don't think he deserves anymore concern.

Rob I'm glad your avatar pic shows you wearing a thick furry hat. You're gonna need it as you're banging your head against a brick wall trying to get sense into his thick furry skull.

I do understand what he wrote actually. And no I will NOT hurt myself. ive been in with kids younger than myself. and they havnt hurt themselves either. Nor have they trashed anything. not all kids are like that.
Its what kids do, we explore, we take risks, thats how we learn (sometimes by the time we have learnt its too late... but thats how it goes for us youngens.) We like exploring and enjoying our lves. just like im sur most of you lot enjoy sitting in the railway by the fire having a few drinks and a nice chat. I dont disagree with that. So you should let us do what we enjoy. All we are doing is exploring our town and learning new things - like how much a pint of beer was back in 2003. Churchills is our den. Its a place to relax and chat, just like as i said above, ur place to chill is in the railway by the fire. it feels good to us that we have our own little place where we can get away from everyone else and just chillax. we could go in their 10000 times and never get bored. -Seriously how many times since i started going in there have u heard reports of churchills being on fire or seeing windows been put through.
There are ropeswings in the ball room - 3 of them where the chandeliers used to hang (one chandelier still hangs today)
Its our patch, our den. Its what we do. And with all these rubbish days we have had for ts nice sit in there and keep warm and dry while still having the company of each other.
Now sorry if this has been hard to read (im on mobile device)
Hope u understand. Peace!!!

Yet another twist to this tale. He is not alone! So there's more than one of them risking their lives. And if those rope swings are fixed to the rotting ceiling, it won't be long...

Still like to know what happened to the proposed tour by the derelict building lovers.

The ballroom ceiling is perfectly in tact. And in an earlier post i said the trip was cancelled and it would be next weekend, i didnt specify which day. for some reason you presumed saturday. There are two days at the weekend. Do a bit more knitting to keep urself occupied instead of trying to... discipline? a little boy.... ;) :P

And you be a bit more respectful to your elders or we'll be back to the nastiness of last night. I don't knit nor do I have a rockng chair. Nor am I your "chick" or "love".

Its your patch, its your den, the company of each other, these are not the words of a concerned restorationist, more a cub scout getting his ging gang goolies sorted sitting around the chandeliers.

In fact its more like a squat than a campaign, beware new laws have been introduced with regard to this activity.
