I wasn't talking about a street sign but the one that said "RIX WAS HERE", sorry Doug I was only messing about I had no idea that there used to be a side door.

No problem Bagpuss, I've seen a picture in the last month or two that shows the door in situ along with a sign saying "Broardway" and clocks in the windows....I'll try and remember where I've seen it and post it.

A sign saying "Broadway"? But Broadway is round the other side.

I do hope you can show us the pic with the door. Like Bagpuss I had no idea there used to be a door there but if I see it it may just jog my memory.

It helps me realise I originally thought I was looking at the opposite corner!! (ie photographed from somewhere in the vicinity of "Si") No wonder I was confused.

So, of course I was thinking of different trees too.:D

Come to think of it you might also say the railing (which was very popular for leaning on and watching the world go by) is also now missing, as is the belisha beacon.

Yeah, but so is the muck on the walls, and the Policeman too for that matter.

Anyway, moving swiftly on, is the pic resident on your machine or on the internet?

Nice picture willow and very close to the one I mean. But it's not the one, however I have found a copy of the one I'm on about in a book I bought about Accrington. I would think most of you with a interest will have a copy..........The book is Memories of Accrington. You will find the picture across pages 66 - 67....I think it's a cracking shot c1950s.

Glad I'm not the only one. I was beginning to wonder after Doug mentioned the "Broadway" sign.
