NEED A NEW QUIZ VOLUNTEER TO HOST THE QUIZ REGULAR - ANY VOLUNTEERS POST HERE OR PM ME. I will select the best person for the job & will give them the lowdown on the settings etc BUT any host selected will not be able to play in the spirit of sportspersonship & fairness, but must be a former quizzer or familiar with the quiz & accyweb.

After quite a few years since i started the quiz im standing down due to having so much on with uni work that i havent the time anymore with it & dont want it to go stale again as many accywebbers love the quiz so wish it to continue on with a new host.

New host/ess will be announced next wed 28th nov 2012 and will take over as promptly as possible announced on quiz board.

Thanks Egg for your offer of karma if anyone got a ten yesterday.

I nearly did - the question I fell down on was the last one, about blood transfusion. Ironic as I had just come back from the hosp after being there all day for a transfusion of 3 units of blood!

Ive had no real interest in the take over :( dont mind keeping hold of the helm but means i cant keep changing questions and i forget with being busy. Basically means u cant play quiz yourself - to be inpartial to game and avoid fix issues. You will be in control of the question sets assigned to each day - tho u cant alter todays questions day as thats already in play, and be on hand to answer any questions and make sure new members have the tournament password to enter - thats it.

Just wanted to share this pic with my fellow quizzers. You might find it amusing. It's our local village pub quiz team in Wiltshire winning the Salisbury quiz league for the umpteenth time, this is in about 1997. Well I wore that same top on the day T Blair got elected so must have been around then - only a woman would remember that, eh?

Anyway the team usually consisted of three PhDs and a lollipop man and I was the captain. On this evening it was two PhDs (one of whom is now a prof at Southampton University), a French teacher and a lollipop man. I'll leave you to guess who is who...

Oh dear talk about hoist with my own petard!! Question ten today, I mean.

As we have all played now I can say a bit more.

In my opinion all four of the answers were gemstones as well as colours - aqua is aquamarine - I have an aquamarine necklace.

Anyone else got an opinion on it?

Aqua was the most likely answer but I was so pumped-up with adrenalin for some reason I clicked emerald...!!! Think it was seeing all those fast times before I played.
