Right, when the song was on everyone used to bang on tables and floor causing damage???

accymel 21-03-2005 17:35

Re: Pop Quiz

I'll give u that Tinks!! the reason was they was so scared of ppl damaging the dance hall floors with all the stomping feet they declined to play it.

jason 21-03-2005 17:36

Re: Pop Quiz

Dance halls claimed that the stomping beat encouraged dancers to stamp along to the rhythm, which would damage their floors.

Sure am. I'll put you out of your misery. From The official Status Quo Website:

PILEDRIVER

The band's first chart album, this hit No.5 in 1972. Includes the single "Paper Plane" which reached No.8. The bonus track is the ultra-rare live version of "Don't Waste My Time" from the 1973 Reading Festival.

jason 21-03-2005 18:32

Re: Pop Quiz

Status Quo's debut album featured none of the band's better-known boogie rock of the mid-'70s. Picturesque... is a psychedelic effort that tries to imitate the sound bands like the Bee Gees or the Beatles were doing at the moment. With this record, Status Quo surprisingly had its first (and last) hit in America, the single "Pictures of Matchstick Men," which peaked at number 12 (it reached number seven on the British charts).
