Cool Now For Something Different

Now that your brain cells are beginning to function again after the festive celebrations do you fancy doing a quiz on BBC Radio and TV programme theme tunes?

You do? Good! Click on http://uk.geocities.com/[email protected]/ntp1.html to listen to the 10 tunes.

You get ONE POINT for naming the programme that the tune is associated with.
You get TWO POINTS for naming the tune.
You get FIVE POINTS for naming the performer.

Caution - not all signature tunes have a tune name or performer.

My source is official BBC records and tapes so all answers need to correspond with the details on those. (Er! More or less.)

The quiz closes at midnight GMT on the Wednesday 10th January 2007.

The results will be published within a day or two afterwards.

The three people with the HIGHEST number of points will get some Karma from me.
The three people with the LOWEST number of points will be obliged to give me some Karma.

If fewer than six people have a go then only the HIGHEST and LOWEST will qualify to receive Karma or be obliged to give me some Karma.

Now click on http://uk.geocities.com/[email protected]/ntp1.html to listen to the 10 tunes.

Please post your results in this thread in this format:
Programme Title – Tune Name – Performer
E.g.
01 Athletics - World Series - Keith Mansfield
02
03 Muffin The Mule - We Want Muffin - Annette Mills
04
and so on.

Good luck!

Cool Re: Now For Something Different

The answers are:
01 Wimbledon - Light And Tuneful – Not Known
02 Match Of The Day – Offside - Not Known
03 Tomorrow’s World – Not Known - Johnny Dankworth Big Band
04 Paul Temple - Coronation Scot - Queen’s Hall Light Orchestra *******
05 Juke Box Jury - Hit & Miss - John Barry Seven
06 Dallas - Not Known - Frank Barber Orchestra
07 Two Way Family Favourites - With A Song In My Heart - Andre Kostelanetz Orchestra *******
08 Fawlty Towers - Not Known - Dennis Wilson Quartet
09 Maigret - Not Known - Ron Grainer
10 Test Cricket - Soul Limbo - Booker T And The MG’s
******* Radio Programmes

So you have 4 points shillelagh. Good effort but sadly the only one. But you get the Karma for at least having a go.

I can do another one if people are interested. It's up to you.

Re: Now For Something Different

Hey jambutty, that looked like fun. I'm surprised you didn't get more involvement! Obviously I'm out as I'd never heard of anything other than Fawlty Towers.

I say give it another go and see if you get people noticing it. There is so much other "stuff" in Anything Goes afraind neat things like this can get overlooked.

Brian

Also appreciate your well thought out contributions to Accyweb!

Re: Now For Something Different

Thank you jambutty for the karma. I only saw it last night and thought i'd have a go. Maybe advertised it instead of something different as a title maybe you should have put themes quiz.

Thank you for doing it though Jambutty.
