The only people from your side of the pond I have ever been seen look at their country and laugh at its stupidity are Michael Moore and Rich Hall. In Great Britain, it's the staple of all our comedy acts.

Now your begining to sound like the 5 year old who runs home skrieking (sp?) because the other kid got a bigger dash of raspberry vinegar on his ice cream cone. ;)

Yep , think the medical term for that is penis envy , Heard of Michael Moore ,a bit of a commie pinko liberal, but who is Rich Hall ? never heard of him , not well known here :D

I'm not quite sure what an American is trying to acheive by posting on an Accrington website but it's entirely typical of you to dive in with an abrasive response without fully understanding the wording presented to you.

I joined this forum to debate local matters with residents from Hyndburn on a civilised level. So far I have discussed topics with intelligent people, the only exception being you, particularly your ludicrous last post.

Please do not involve me in anything further that you have to say on any subject.

He, like many of our overseas members, was born and bred in the area.

Indeed Accy Web was set up by an expat, so he could keep in touch with what was happening here.

Very often what happens here is a new memeber joins, shouts their mouth off, without knowing the facts of a situation, and feathers get ruffled, and egos bruised.

Eventually, they calm down, and are accepted into the fold.

That's what usually happens here. Time after time.

Primark achieved success by selling things very cheaply.

Sadly there's always a price to pay, although they do now say they've cut back on using child slave labour.

I'l apologise if you think I've been shouting my mouth off, that certainly isn't my intention. However, I don't feel that I have done and anyone who comes back at my posts regarding UK petrol prices and the Brits having a laugh at themselves with comments about ice cream 'vinegar' and penis envy is not someone I want to have discussions with.

I take your original point though. Noted.

As you asked me to do over on the 'Sunday Trading' thread, all I would ask is that people read my original posts without thinking that they're automatically having a dig at someone. Telling me all about OPEC agreements that I am already aware of had nothing to do with what I was saying and was rather a smart alec way of being needlessly antagonistic.

Eric, in Canada, mentioned the cost of a supermarket trolley there, which prompted you to post...

When it was pointed out that OPEC set the cost of crude, and that any difference is down to the relatively large amount the British government takes in tax, you retaliated by asking why an American was posting on Accy Web in the first place.

They were posting, as expats, about Primark, until you decided to bring in oil prices, which as far as I know, Primark don't sell.

No, I retaliated by saying that we pay more for for petrol at the pumps than in North America and that's all there was to it.

Now who's spinning? :)

...and introducing oil prices, and threats of civil war, is connected to Primark how?

The comparison between prices in America and the UK and the overall expense of things. I understand that the price of clothes in GAP in America is considerably lower than over here, which rather neatly brings us back to Primark.

Err...... I really don't think that's such a good idea as if you put a match to it, it'll go "WHOOF", then it'll end up runnin' away from itself !! :D
