Primark..do you or dont you?
 

Primark is one of my favourite clothes shops, with all the hype recently about slave labour in India and other foreign countries do you really care about where these clothes come from?

i dont, yes i know i should do, we all should really but when it comes to budgeting our brass can we really afford to care where our clothes come from?



i'm off to Primark in Preston after school by the way, anyone want to join me on the train ? :D:D:D:D

The missus loves that place, me, i can`t stand it, when i`m dragged anywhere near the one in Manchester its like a scene from Dawn Of The Dead, women in trances staggering around under the weight of clothes in their arms ,must agree though, we should be right on and boycott these places but with the credit crunch you just can`t, anyway most clothes are made in sweatshops whether it be Primark or M & S, the sports wear certainly is, Nike ,Adidas etc and as are a lot of very expensive designer goods..........and i`d say by the amount of people who pass through their doors most people don`t care how it was made:D

The thing about Primark using indian labour is that they are giving these people jobs and allowing them to support their families......and remember what seems like a paltry wage to us, is acceptable to them because their cost of living is different.......we couldn't survive on this wage in THIS country....but they can because their cost of living is different.
I think if you are on a very tight budget, then you buy what you can afford.....where ever it comes from...if you are not well off then you can't afford the luxury of fine principles.

the simple answer is every person has to " Cut Their Cloth" n the economics of running a house/family take precedent. anyone who thinks otherwise is braindead.:rolleyes:

Spot on. Be it cheap food, clothes whatever is needed to keep the family fed and clothed. Hell, if they did smart price water, I'd sign up to that as well (well maybes not the really cheap stuff cos I dont like floaty bits pmsl ;))

Saying that, dont really like Primark, when I have been, i didnt really like the lads clothes for my sons age, got some lush underwear though, and the little girls stuff was fab. Not sure spiderman would appreciate a sex change though.

Have been in primark twice both in preston. Havent bought anything from there, because didnt see anything i liked.

Primark is great for girls clothes, my sister loves it (she has 2 girls) I like it , can get the odd decent thing but no too keep on the boys fashins there, not my thing. I have bought a few bits for myself from there, especially accessories and underwear, there great

Im hooked on our new prinmark because not only is there a good selection of clothes the prices are right too. :alright:
Also 3 wonderful floors of goodies to rummage through:D

Hadnt really given a thought to who makes em but TBH MP is spot on with what she says.


Wasnt there a similar thing with GAP a few years back ? all ado about kids being used to work long hrs making these clothes .

I used to make all my own clothes but when the sweatshops opened up it became cheaper to buy readymade.
There is talk about that the price of clothing is due to rocket soon, due to rising transport costs and the conversion of cotton fields to growing biofuels.
Sewing machine sales are increasing.

I agree MR I can honestly see people making their own stuff again. Wish i knew how to use a damn sewing machine lol.
Give me the old Curtain ones at wills fabrics and Im away but stick a domestic one in front of me and im hopeless lol,.:confused::D

I never had a fancy gadget machine - going forwards and backwards stitching is all that I needed.
