Bolton one, best way to explain is go from Darwen, get to lights in bolton where asda is on your right - turn left there (A58?), keep going down the dual carraigeway till you reach another set of lights - turn right there, you will eventually come to a right hand bend, just as you go round this the aquarium is on your right hand side. |
Re: Tropical Fish
Went to Chorley after school run so didnt have time... knowing this we popped into the one in accy round the corner from us... Got some plants and bits (soon mounts up as well) Bloke was friendly and helpfull... explained we are newbies and what we have... he said we can take a sample of water back in a few days and he will test it for us tos ee if ready for fish...
Next stop harwood shop :) |

Went to Harwood today... got some more plants.. bit more colourfull these... mani got it spot on.. great to look around and my two youngest loved the sharks... but the service was abismal.. no one interested and the one bloke I did get to serve us was a misserable sort... Nice shop but doubt I will go back with service like that.. oh and website says closes during week 4.30 hence why we couldnt go other day.. but at shop it says 6pm Next stop blackburn :) |

Re: Tropical Fish
QUick question on the subject cos nowhere is explaining it not the box anyway nor google 'Do i leave my airpump 24hrs a day running as with filter or is it best to switch off at night?' My tank is cold water fish.
If no reply i will turn it off tonight just in case, as u can tell i got my ebay bargain its working great! |
Re: Tropical Fish
upto u really - as long as there is enough surface movement for oxygen exchange to take place - u can switch off the air pump
by surface movement i dont ness mean 30 foot waves... just nice ripples caused by the pump... |
Re: Tropical Fish
what u can do if the air pump is too powerful and there is no speed setter on the pump itself is get a small clamp from any decent shop for about 2-3 quid and clamp the air pipe to restrict its airflow that lessens the force to somethign a lil more quieter
|
Re: Tropical Fish
Thanks Mani:)
Was more concerned that if there should be a prob with pump that i didnt want it to burn out cos they can scorch airline & didnt want fish hurt during night, i turned it off last night & all was fine this morning put back on then & no syphen from airline, mind u my filter causes movement with water in any case, now ive ended up with a few more fish i may have to leave it on overnight - mind u my little becks loves floating up off the bubbles like a bungie spring LOL!! |
