If they have Beach Volleyball - why don't they also have Beach Donkey Racing! :jimbo:

Never said it was Kes, :) it was just in answer to your & Sue's comment about having fishing as an event. I do a bit of fishing myself but certainly wouldn't want it to be included in, or tampered with by the IOC.

Horses for courses & all that, or as your other suggestion, Donkeys. ;) Again I wouldn't want the IOC fiddling with the traditional Donkey derbys you used to get at Summer fairs & Country shows, (Won 10 bob on one of them once :D)

Watching bits of the closing ceremony - missed the parade of the athletes - but have yet to hear anyone who can really sing. Now on - Russell Brand (shudder) singing the Beatles for heaven's sake. Hope I've missed the Spice Girls...

Quite liked the suspended drummers at the beginning - but they rather got in the way of the bit of Elgar that was being played at the same time...

What I really hate is the relentess beat in the background that never stops - oh dear I must be getting old...

Beethoven must be turning in his grave if this is called a symphony of British Music...

If it's supposed to be a celebration of British music, let's have a medley of George Formby's songs.

Well at least Macha didn't make an appearance, Kaiser Chiefs were quite good, but as for George Michael, pass

Think that' s the point Jay - they have to age disgracefully. :D

Unfortunately I missed the closing ceremony -I like a bit of entertainment especially when it's OTT and open to criticism;) George can get away with anything as far as I'm concerned -have always been a fan and he has a voice which is a gift of nature.

Just saw a bit of it in a re-run on Eurosport - I saw Annie Lennox when I got in for 2 mins last night - she's a great performer. Just seen "Take That" who I enjoyed -hats off to Gary Barlow for perfoming so soon after the death of his newborn child... they will never be as good without Robbie though -show man par excellence.

Could have managed without seeing Queen -not the same without Mercurial Freddie:D

The Who at the end were perfect and I thought they were a great choice - Roger Daltrey is in damn good nick and still hits the notes!

As a fan of fireworks - all that side of things was good and the Firebird dance with Darcy Bussell and the switching off of the flame was very arty and well done.

I wonder what will happen to the construction that made up the flame -presumably it will go on display somewhere...
