The Wigan & Orrell UK Record Status Portsmouth is taking place on 26th Jan - Some of our top junior archers will be taking part - lets hope the Lancashire squad can do well and make us proud.

Re: Archery

Apparently the Hunger Games has done more to promote Archery than the Olympics.

Saying that, during and after the Olympics - beginners course for Archery were full and extra sessions were put on to meet demand.

Maybe we will do better in the 2016 and 2020 Olympics - !!!

I'll do my best to get people there.

Re: Archery

Out of 1.5 Million people who live in Lancashire - The nearest Archer we have who may represent us in the 2016 Olympics at Rio is from Skelmersdale.

What a sad Statistics - where are our junior hopefuls??????

So far you've done all the chatting, perhaps it's time to show a little interest in the rest of the site?
Let people get to know you, then maybe they will take an interest?
:)

Re: Archery

We have several good junior Archers throughout Lancashire - unfortunately they do not get the right guidance, help and support to get them to the Elite stage.

Very few schools will run archery and no-body really knows much about it - that is why I decided to team up with Accrington Academy and to start some threads on here - just to let people know there are other sports outside of Football, Rugby, Cricket, and Tennis that is available to them.
Most people can name 5 footballers - even if they do not follow the sport - how many can name 3 Archers who have represented us in the Olympics over the past 20 years.
