Re: Whats your favourite
I don't watch that much TV these days -we have SKY Italy which has loads of channels, but so many are repeats and American programmes which I don't enjoy. Everything has got too samey or OTT for me. Loved the original CSI but the storylines these days are just unbelievable and I'm fed up of violence and murders. Am also sick of seeing Gordon Ramsey everywhere!
If we had UK Gold I'd probably end up watching that for the old commedies. I'm a fan of good old-fashioned murder mysteries like Poirot, Miss Marple, Sherlock Holmes etc. They are beautifully made "period" pieces and i can watch them every time. Am going to investigate streaming in internet which my son was explaining to me yesterday - i now have a cable and can hook up the computer to the TV screen. There have been so many BBC and other programmes talked about on here in the past which i couldn't see - very frustrating at times- so I hope to be able to see some decent programmes this way. I sometimes wonder why we spend the money on SKY when they've removed all the programmes i used to enjoy - the main reason is of course Football which is inflicted on me regularly. Sometimes seems it never stops. Only plus these days of the Footie is that when it's on I can come on the Accyweb for a "chat" -that's if my tapping away at the keyboard doesn't get on hubby's nerves (which it generally does! Sometimes risk divorce:D) |

Cadfael I've never seen -would also love to see "I, Clavdivs" again too:D Bergerac was great - am a fan of John Nettles and have seen all The Midsomer Murders, not really for the storylines but for the fab settings etc. -when I need comfort TV it's great - rests the brain:p The Onedin Line was another one we used to watch, and I used to love The Duchess of Duke Street -remember that one? |

Onedin and Duke Street passed me by. Talking of liking period settings, this week I was looking forward to Great Expectations on BBC1 but the filming was so dark I gave up after episode 1. This seems to be a growing trend and really puts me off. Also didn't like Gillian Anderson as Miss Havisham, she's such a one-dimensional actress, was just as bad in the last Dickens thing, can't remember what that was but she spoilt it... |
Re: Whats your favourite
Great Expectations always sends a shiver down my spine as we had to study it for O-level -therefore hated it!
Have just looked up the new version on the BBC site - Gillian Anderson is not an actress I know but she looks a bit young to be Miss Havisham. Don't like the look of the guy who plays Pip either... Why have they not done a new version of A Christmas Carol instead for the festive season I wonder -it is a great story. |
Re: Whats your favourite
Had enough of Dickens this Christmas.
Can't believe nobody's mentioned my all time fave programme - Blake's 7!!! |
